ASM Block 1
Course Description: Student will explore unconscious bias and privilege while reflecting on how these affect a midwife’s ability to provide culturally appropriate care. Students will participate in activities that promote cultural humility while developing skills for working with populations that are culturally different from their own. An understanding of the basis of health disparities will be fostered and solutions will be explored. The role of the midwife in addressing social and physical determinants of health will be discussed.
