ASM Block 3
Course Description: In this course, the student learns how to evaluate the physiologic and anatomical changes of the client in the postpartum period, as well as behavioral and psychological responses to childbearing. Students learn the rationale and appropriate measurement of postpartum vital signs, the importance of chart review and history review at this stage, the charting of additional history, physical and pelvic status, and consults and referrals, and the creation of a postpartum management plan.
This course uses current research in midwifery and obstetrics to broaden the student’s understanding of the NARM skills and MEAC essential competencies learned under clinical supervision.
